Beetle Horns
- Description
-
These images are of the heads of beetles. The top image is of the head of a late-stage third instar larva, with the head capsule removed to show the early development of the horns which will be a conspicuous in the adult shown in the lower image. In each image the horns are colored blue. When the larva moults to the next stage, the folded-up tissue expands to form the horns shown in their fully developed state in the adult.
